Ch. Mwenga Marijka J.W. - "Meara" to her friends was one
of 9 puppies in the first litter bred by this small but successful hobby
kennel. Sired by Ch. Iannto of Janak out of Janak Lady Eleanor of
Mwenga she was selected as "the one" at a week old and went on to fulfil all
her breeder's hopes and more! One of 3 Champions in the litter she won
her first CC at Blackpool '93 (doing the double with her brother Ch. Mwenga
Maverick), her second at East of England - where she also won the Group!
She was made up at the Hound Show, took the CC at Midland Counties and
produced a litter of 8 in December - what a year !
I
n '94 she took CC's at Scottish Hound and Darlington and was awarded
RCC's at Southern Counties and Birmingham (May).
Tragically she was not to enjoy a long and happy retirement - whilst running free she ate mince mixed with slug pellets. Despite the best care possible she died on 10th May, 1998 just short of her 7th birthday.
In June of that year at the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Great Britain show she was awarded the Ragstone Shield for Outstanding Brood Bitch - a fitting epitaph for a very special Ridgeback.
